It was perhaps the only time in history when people enjoyed being fined.

The release of the Barbie movie was not only a high-profile cinematic event, but became the reason why the entire world dressed in pink. The so-called Barbiecore took over the world even before the movie was released: theaters, red carpets, store shelves, and social media feeds turned pink after the first photos from the filming leaked online.

Turns out, popularizing the pink trend had a lot to do with Margot Robbie herself. Recently, Ryan Gosling, who played the role of Ken in Greta Gerwig's new movie, revealed interesting details from the set.

It turned out that the screen partner of the actor, Margot Robbie, introduced an unusual rule for all members of the film crew. The actress set a strict pink dress code and demanded that it be followed once a week. And anyone who disobeyed was fined.

However, the money did not go into Margot's pocket, but to charity, which makes the actress' demand not only funny, but also touching.

The actor added that this rule impressed the male part of the team the most. At the end of the shoot, the guys even sewed pink shirts with rainbow fringes. This was their way of expressing their support and respect for the project's main initiators, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig.

Moreover, on the set, the movie creators used so much pink that the movie was one of the reasons for the depletion of pink paint around the world – most of the paint was used on Barbie's house.

Barbiecore has also taken over Pinterest, where searches on the topic have increased 150 percent in the past three months.

A vibrant shade of pink also hit the runways and red carpets back in 2022. Many designers, noticing the hype surrounding the Barbie movie, decided to experiment with the hue.

Valentino, Moschino and other brands used bright pink in their shows. For Valentino, pink became the main color of this year.

The movie's pop culture influence, coupled with runway trends, has given us one of the biggest fashion trends of the year – a new, vibrant pink straight from the wardrobe of the world's most popular doll.
