Mandy/Georgie Cliffhanger Has All Young Sheldon Fans Saying One Thing
The Young Sheldon power couple has struck us right in the feels, and we honestly don't mind.
In the latest episode, it's Georgie's 18th birthday, and he has a tough decision to make (spoiler alert: he makes the right one!).
He could either go out on a date with Amber or celebrate his birthday with his baby mama Mandy. Georgie chooses wisely and opts for spending time (or rather, the rest of his life) with his new family.
The episode ends with Georgie's proposal, and now we have to wait two weeks to find out Mandy's answer.
This cliffhanger is a good old plot twist that every show needs, but since the show is a prequel to the original, we are already burdened with knowing the future – Georgie has two failed marriages, and the one with Mandy is 99.9% the first.
Why are we so sure? In the season 1 episode, A Computer, a Plastic Pony and a Case of Beer, George makes a $1,000 bet with his son that he'd be married before he's 25.
Georgie accepts the bet, and adult Sheldon narrates, "Georgie married his first wife at 19. He never paid my father."
This flashback is hurtful in two ways. First, that wife is almost certainly sweet Mandy (but they are not the endgame).
Second, the reason Georgie never pays his dad is that George is probably already dead by that point. Sorry, be right back, just crying our eyes out…
However, the fans have come up with a brilliant plan on how to save Georgie and Mandy 's relationship (because we love them, and they must be protected at all costs).
The thing is, Mandy could become Georgie's first wife and divorce him later, but that doesn't mean this has to be it for them.
What if their divorce is amicable? Say, Georgie is way younger, and he needs to figure out who he is on his own, so they split up (but he is still very much present in little Constance's life).
Then, after the second failed marriage, Georgie and Mandy get back together because they are soulmates (and we will fight you for that).
This fakeout can be the way to make Georgie's future a lot brighter than what we saw in The Big Bang Theory.
Young Sheldon writers, we hope you are taking notes!
