The reason she is so determined to find Ezra Bridger is actually more complex than you might think.

Ever since the first two episodes of Ahsoka premiered, some fans have found it a bit strange that Sabine Wren is just hanging out on Lothal instead of being with her family, since she successfully reunited with them during the events of Star Wars Rebels.

Yes, the planet is very important to her after the events of the animated series, but while the rest of the Ghost's crew went their separate ways, Sabine decided to stay where it all began and not rejoin the Mandalorians.

Now, the recently released fourth episode of the series suddenly provided a shocking explanation and added a new layer to Sabine's motivation to find Ezra Bridger.

The last time we saw the Wren clan was in season four of Star Wars Rebels, when Sabine helped her mother and brother rescue their father from Imperial collaborators on Mandalore.

But as we learned in the TV shows The Mandalorian and the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett, the planet's surface was obliterated by Imperial bombardment some time later, turning it to glass and destroying all the cities.

It appears that Sabine's family did not survive the Great Purge, as during her confrontation with Baylan Skoll, the ex-Jedi manipulates her into not destroying the map to the other galaxy.

He reveals that he knows about her family's demise and makes a deal with the Mandalorian, promising to help her find Ezra, as he is the only family she has left.

With all this in mind, it becomes clear why Sabine is so obsessed with finding Bridger; after losing her family, Sabine's determination to find him has only grown stronger.

Agreeing to follow Baylan will undoubtedly have its own consequences, though he doesn't seem like the typical Star Wars "evil villain," leading some fans to believe he might actually be a Gray Jedi.

So maybe Skoll is a man of his word, although the same cannot be said for Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth.

Ahsoka episode 5 will be released on September 12, 2023.
