Seems like Maisie Williams and Arya Stark had some bad blood on set.

Summary:

  • Game of Thrones ’s star Maisie Williams has recently revealed that she hurt herself with a sword on the set of the show.
  • As her character Arya Stark was supposed to be left-handed while Williams is right-handed herself, the actress didn’t manage sword stunts at first that resulted in her injury.
  • Maisie Williams never told stories like this before as she had some hard time processing the end of Game of Thrones and deciding what projects to keep going with.

Being an actor isn’t that easy as it may seem, especially when it comes to performing stunts without professionals’ help — and Maisie Williams’s case proves it.

Game of Thrones concluded its longtime run by the eighth season back in 2019, but the actress revealed some never-heard-before details about her shooting process only now saying she got herself an injury while filming the scene of her character Arya Stark stabbing The Hound (portrayed by actor Rory McCann).

There was one particular detail that Maisie thinks was to blame for what occurred: the actress herself is right-handed, while Arya happens to be left-handed — and that didn’t play into Williams’s hands.

While talking to Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Maisie revealed she was supposed to stab The Hound with her own sword and the latter had to warp so that it’d look effective in the shot.

At first it didn’t happen the way everyone wanted — the crew got very invested in the sword problem as nobody wanted to miss an opportunity of yet another Game of Thrones epic scene. Eventually, after several attempts to crack the sword Maisie unconsciously flicked it and instead just hurt herself in the brow that resulted in a big bump.

The actress admitted it was quite embarrassing as for the rest of the shooting day they had to film the scenes from the other side so that the injury wouldn’t be visible.

The reason why Maisie never told this story before is probably the fact that, according to the actress herself, she was feeling so lost after the show ended that couldn’t even foresee future career perspectives for herself.

Now that quite a lot of time has passed since then, Williams has obviously thought everything over — and keeps moving on.
