Marvel has said girl power – quite literally.

It's a new era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as fans note that basically every OG Avenger now seems to have some sort of a "female version".

It's not always about them being directly replaced, as some of those "versions" are variants. For instance, Peggy Carter has never become Captain Britain in the main universe, only on Earth 616.

Still, it looks like Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and the rest of the Earth's mightiest heroes already have a female counterpart.

However, it's not a signal that OG Avengers fans can pound the alarm that their favorite heroes are going "woke". As some fans pointed out, the line-up of new female characters is actually a compilation of different characters from various teams.

For instance, Jane Foster a.k.a. Mighty Thor has only appeared in one movie, and not only she never replaced the actual Thor but also died in the end. At least two prominent female characters from the line-up might soon discover themselves a part of the Young Avengers team, while others have their own affiliations.

One fan sarcastically noted that it's nice to see "the female black widow" as "the male version was so annoying". Obviously, Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow is the only OG Avenger who never even needed a female "variant" in the first place.

Some fans suggested that it would be amazing to see a movie that would feature a line-up like the one presented in the tweet by HeroicHollywood, but others immediately dismissed the idea.

"This is gonna bomb horribly. No one wants an All-female gender bent Avengers filled with hate by the majority of the fanbase, including the "All male" demographic. Sorry, I'm just speaking facts. The majority of the fanbase are men who grew up reading comics," Twitter user howlingwolfjoey noted.

However, the chances of such a movie to come out are quite low, to be frank. With at least two dead characters and several people from rivaling teams who might not be overly into each other, an all-female Avengers movie is not something that is likely to happen in the coming decade.

Still, it's nice to know that old characters have a new generation of superheroes to rely on — and plenty of this generation's representatives are women.
