Lucy and Raj Were Horrible Together, but The Big Bang Theory’s Real Villain Is His Other Ex
He didn’t have too much luck with dating.
Although the finale of The Big Bang Theory is considered one of the best sitcom finales ever, viewers are still divided on the ending for one particular character. Raj, who turned down the idea of an arranged marriage at the end of the show, was left alone, and many found this decision very unfair.
However, looking back at his dating history throughout the 12 seasons of the sitcom, being single for some time can hardly be considered a punishment. He was not a good friend to half of his romantic interests, and the other half were downright horrible to him. No one, however, could top Emily.
Who Was Raj’s Worst Girlfriend?
The most annoying of Raj's girlfriends was probably Lucy. She had a lot of baggage and hadn't dealt with it before approaching him. However, even she had done something nice for him by getting him out of his mutism and helping him overcome the struggle he had been going through for years. That alone makes her essential to his character development.
Emily, on the other hand, did nothing good for him. The premise of their relationship seemed fun at first: they were introduced by Penny, who thought there couldn't be a more perfect match than a mute man and a deaf woman. She seemed sweet and genuinely interested in Raj, so they started dating.
But their happiness didn't last long. As it turned out, Emily was using Raj for his wealth and felt no remorse for it. As soon as she found out that Raj's parents might cut off his financial support if they found out he was dating a white woman, Emily dumped him to find a billionaire without such problems.
Looking back on the show, Emily may have been one of the most evil characters to ever appear on the show. Not only was she cruel in her intentions to use someone else's money for her own good, but she used the most vulnerable man to get what she wanted.
Unfortunately, as the seasons went on, Raj ended up not much better than Emily with his new girlfriends. Some might even say he deserved it. However, considering how insecure and afraid of communicating with women he was back then, it might have been Emily who pushed him to become a careless womanizer in the first place.
If you don't really remember Emily and want to watch The Big Bang Theory from the beginning, you can stream the show on Max.
