Lucius from Gladiator is All Grown Up Now (and Pulling Nevill-Like Transformation)
Remember when Matthew Lewis (who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter movies) reappeared in the public eye looking nothing like his character and turning a few heads?
Well, he's not the only grown-up actor who has built up quite the following among fans who are taken by his looks.
Spencer Treat Clark may not be the first name that rolls off the tongue when people are asked who was in Ridley Scott 's Gladiator – but he will be instantly recognisable to most movie fans as Lucius Verus, the son of Empress Lucilla.
Now 35, the American actor has built up a pretty impressive filmography over the years.
Since making his name alongside stars such as Russel Crowe and Connie Nielson, he's enjoyed a varied career, starring as Borachio in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, appearing in 2014 slasher movie The Town that Dreaded Sundown, and the 2019 superhero flick Glass directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
He was also in Weird: The Al Yankovic – written by Weird Al himself and starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Without being unfair to Matthew Lewis, Neville was probably seen as significantly less of a catch than Lucius by 12-year-old girls watching those movies.
This could have had something to do with the way the character was portrayed and Lewis' onscreen demeanour which was very different from that of Treat Clark.
But both have gone on to form pretty decent followings on Instagram and other social media and to have successful acting careers.
Aside from his movie roles, Treat Clark has appeared in several TV shows. You may recognise him from episodes of The Good Wife, Mad Men, NCIS or Criminal Minds.
But his most famous TV work has been recurring roles as Werner von Strucker in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Adrian Dolan in Animal Kingdom.
His next project, though, will see him return to the big screen as Mike Ryerson in the upcoming supernatural thriller Salem's Lot which is based on the novel by Stephen King.
And he's not just a pretty face (and talented actor). He graduated from New York's Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in political science and economics.
So, form an orderly queue of ladies. Because the multi-talented Spencer Treat Clark is also young(ish), free and single. Although judging by his Instagram posts, you'll need to be an outdoorsy type to properly connect with him.
