Good Omens’ season 2 premiere is less than a month away, and it seems that we are in for an emotional rollercoaster in July!

In June, Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for season 2 of Good Omens.

Everything is in shambles again, Earth seems to be facing another apocalypse, and archangel Gabriel, played by Jon Hamm, has lost his memory.

Gabriel was the leader of Heaven in season 1, and he wasn’t exactly one of the good guys. In fact, he was a bit of a jerk and wanted the apocalypse to go on as planned. Season 2 might explore this character’s softer side.

Judging from the trailer, Gabriel has fallen from Heaven and doesn’t remember who he is or why he has come to Aziraphale in the first place. He looks like an innocent child that the ineffable husbands will likely be taking care of in the upcoming season.

A recently released sneak peek at season 2 has only confirmed that Gabriel doesn’t have a clue about what’s going on. Wrapped in a cozy blankie and sipping what looks like tea for the first time (and adorably surprised by the sensations it is giving him), he vaguely recalls that he is supposed to warn Aziraphale about “something terrible” that is coming soon and give him “a thing” to stop it.

Season 2 will definitely show us a different Gabriel, and we are here for it. Memory loss could do the archangel a lot of good – like humbling him and giving him some perspective from the human side of things. Turns out, Gabriel going from a baddie to a sweetheart is not what we expected, but it is what we needed.

From the looks of it, season 2 is going to be just as good as season 1, despite not being based on any source material. The eerie atmosphere is still there, most of the cast is returning, and new adventures are coming.

Good Omens’ season 2 will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video on July 28.
