Looks Like Bridgerton’s Sophie Will Be Making Her Debut in Season 3 After All
Bridgerton season 3 will be focusing on Colin and Penelope’s story – no one says Benedict and Sophie won’t be there as well!
The writers may have us believe that Benedict’s season is still far in the future, but that doesn’t mean that his lover-to-be, Sophie Beckett, won’t be introduced in the upcoming season 3. In fact, fans are convinced that she will be, and they even have a pretty good idea of who might be playing her.
In season 2, Anthony mentions that it is time to hire some new staff, including “a strong-willed lady’s maid for Eloise” (given her temperament, the new maid will truly have to be an iron lady), as one X (fka Twitter) user has promptly noticed.
For context, in the original book by Julia Quinn, Sophie is a daughter of an earl, but an illegitimate one, so she is stuck working as a maid. If Viscount Bridgerton does in fact go through with his plans, Sophie could easily make her debut in season 3, giving way to her and Benedict’s fairytale of a love story.
Netflix has yet to announce the full cast for Bridgerton season 3, and the promo materials have conveniently been focusing on Colin and Penelope, the couple of the hour, and Eloise. Benedict himself is nowhere to be seen in the first-look photos, let alone Sophie.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from conducting the wildest investigations on social media. Back in March, one Reddit user did research and shared that they may have found Bridgerton’s Sophie – namely, a South African actress Masali Baduza, best known for her role in Noughts + Crosses.

The fan has noticed that Baduza follows an awful lot of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte cast members, including Nicola Coughlan (who follows her back), India Amarteifio, and Victor Alli (who has been leaked as John Stirling, Francesca’s first husband). Could this be our Sophie?
Viewers certainly hope so, already saying that the actress has that inner gracefulness about her that the character is known for in the books. We guess we’ll see if the fan speculations turn out to be true soon.
