Looking For a Horror To Watch? Try This Harry Potter Movie
Turns out there’s something you still didn’t know about the franchise.
As one of our favorite holidays, Halloween, approaches, it's only natural to start planning the spookiest of parties. The essential decorations and watch lists are being prepared, and every year there's a need for something new. Well, you can't always watch Scream, because it's just unpleasant, or Hocus Pocus, because let's face it, it's not for everyone. But what is then?
Recent news shared by the director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Alfonso Cuarón, just shocked the fans of the franchise. Turns out that he has planned the movie as a horror.
Well, when you think about it, maybe it's not so much news, because the third chapter of the whole story is indeed the darkest of all.
In the interview with Total Film he shared that he thinks of the installment as a horror, and there’s no way around it. But along with that, he also mentioned that the film has a noir aspect.
“In a way, when I was doing it, the model was more of the German cinema at the end of the silent era, and the transition into the talkies, like Fritz Lang to Murnau. You can see that some of Fritz Lang's films are kind of noir, but, at the same time, they have kind of horror elements to them,” he said in the interview.
Although the film will probably not be considered as a classic horror per se, because it still fits into the genre of fantasy. But with all the dementors and other dark creatures it's definitely easy to see why it really can be perceived as horror.
So it's still okay for kids to watch the movie with their families, although you might want to start the Harry Potter marathon not at night, but when it's still sunny outside.
