The beloved TV show Freaks & Geeks has been off the air for more than two decades, but its fanbase still remains as loyal and as dedicated as ever.

Recently, a reunion of the show's cast and crew took place, and it was not just any regular gathering. It was filmed as a short video during the promotion for the new Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves movie.

Although the show only lasted for one season, it became a cult classic, and it still continues to have a lasting impact on the industry. The series also helped launch the careers of some of big names in entertainment today.

John Francis Daley, director and writer of the new Dungeons & Dragons movie, seemingly couldn't resist the rightful urge to incorporate his Freaks & Geeks past into the promotion of his movie.

In a short reunion video the "geeks" Sam Weir, Neal Schweiber, and Bill Haverchuck (played by Francis Daley, Samm Levine, and Martin Starr respectively) continue to play Dungeons & Dragons game they started in the Freaks & Geeks series finale that aired 23 years ago.

A fact that does not go unmentioned in one particularly meta moment in the video.

This short-lived Freaks & Geeks reunion was "really a special video" to the nostalgic fans.

Apart from being a touchy reminder of good old days, the reunion video has clearly done its work right as a Dungeons & Dragons movie promo:

"Well, watching this made me sure of two things: 1. I want to rewatch Freaks and Geeks. 2. I went from 15% wanting to see the film to 100% going to see the film," Redditor jdessy said, echoing a popular opinion among fans.

In the beautifully written ending of the reunion video, the three characters discuss what a terrible idea it would be to make a Dungeons & Dragons movie, right before the video fades to movie logo and release date (March 31st, 2023).

But the real and the most touching link between Freaks & Geeks and Dungeons & Dragons movie lies in just one line: 23 years in the making.

Let's hope the wait was worth it.
