We need to learn to let shows go on the high.

Summary:

  • The second season of the Disney Plus Loki series was released on October 5, 2023.
  • It was a success among the critics and general audience, gaining an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • While fans are longing for another season now, the executive producer Kevin Wright isn’t sure that it would be the best move.

While some viewers are still trying to get over the finale of Loki's second season, others have already started speculating about season 3. Though there's no story to push the creators to rush another season, fans seem to be clinging to the idea that it needs to happen.

Whether the reason is selfish, and there's just a need to indulge in Tom Hiddleston 's acting a little more or a result of Marvel's years of training us not to let go of fan-favorite characters, is hard to say.

What is clear, however, is that even if season 3 were to happen, we would have to wait quite a long time for any official news about it. This is another rule that Marvel fans have learned to live with over the years and have become very good at. Only those who wait long enough are rewarded with the best-produced quality content.

However, to make the wait a little easier, the executive producer of the fan-favorite show shared how he personally sees the future of Loki and the media surrounding the character.

Kevin Wright Doesn’t Want Loki S3 To Happen

Many TV viewers would agree that there's nothing more pathetic than a show that drags on for far more years than it needs to. The actors get tired of the same roles, the cast keeps changing, and the writers run out of ideas because the premise of the show doesn't allow for much freedom.

Of course, this is the commercial reason that drives studios and networks to renew shows no matter what. The creatives behind them, however, aren't usually as enthusiastic about such ideas. Many believe that seasons should only come out when there is a story to tell. The executive producer behind Loki is one of the people who share that view.

Speaking to TVLine, he had this to say about the popular demand for a third season of Loki:

“I don’t think any of us would ever want to rush into a season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell. But I think this team could go off and tell other stories. Maybe it’s not Loki season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our Better Call Saul to Loki‘s Breaking Bad. That would be cool, to me.”

While Wright was quick to point out that he was not the one who made the decision to cancel or renew the show, it's an opinion he stands by. And we are sure that many viewers would agree.

Besides, judging by the success of the aforementioned Better Call Saul, it's easy to see how the format could work for a variety of series.

For now, you can stream seasons 1 and 2 of Loki on Disney Plus.
