Lena Headey Prefers This Brilliant Game of Thrones Fan Finale Over the Garbage We Saw
An ending like that would raise the stakes to the sky.
Summary:
- Game of Thrones finale disappointed many fans and Lena Headey revealed that she wanted a different ending for her character, mentioning one particular theory.
- According to it, Arya killed Jaime and put on his face to kill Cersei, thus fulfilling the prophecy mentioned in the books.
Do you remember that there once was Game of Thrones? The project of D. Benioff and D. B. Weiss has become a huge event on TV, and like the dragons of Daenerys Targaryen, the show gained power with each new year, expanded its army of fans and ended epically in the spring of 2019.
The last season of Game of Thrones caused a storm of criticism. Even the most loyal viewers were left dissatisfied. The storylines of the characters seemed illogical to many, and the ending seemed far-fetched and left many questions unanswered.
In the finale, some of the most memorable characters of the entire series, Jaime and Cersei, die. The twins, who came into the world together, left it together, holding each other under the rubble of a once impregnable palace.
Lena Headey Wasn't Too Happy With How Cersei Ended Up
Lena Headey, who played Cersei, admitted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she wanted a different ending for her character:
“And [Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams] and I would fantasize about a Cersei and Arya showdown; that she would come back as Jaime.”
If you are interested in which specific version of the ending the actress is talking about, then make yourself comfortable, because this theory is much better than what we ultimately saw on screen, and it definitely deserves your attention.
GoT Finale Theory Gives Cersei and Arya The Ending They Deserve
George R.R. Martin's books, as well as the show, mentioned a prophecy that the witch told young Cersei. But one part of that prophecy was not mentioned in the show. It is about a Valonqar, a so-called younger brother, who is destined to kill Cersei.
Cersei, who already hated Tyrion enough, always thought that the prophecy was about him, but Jaime is also younger than Cersei – he was born shortly after his sister, holding her leg.
The theory is that Arya, who trained with the Faceless Men, killed Jaime and put on his face to do what she returned to Westeros for – kill the most important person on her death list, Cersei.
Imagine if that theory was included in the plot of the show – the prophecy would have come true, Arya would have finished her list, and Cersei would have been killed by the man she loved most. Epic.
