Latest Good Omens' Season 3 Update Leaves Fans Alarmed

Little did they know how close to the truth those gags would turn out to be.

As with many other shows, Good Omens became an easy target for Amazon Prime Video during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As the platform canceled the second season of another queer-representative show, A League of Their Own, fans of Aziraphale and Crowley began to worry even more.

Now, as the months have rolled by and the writers have managed to secure a fair deal with the producers, it feels like Season 3 is closer than ever.

However, the latest update from the crew behind the series throws a shadow over its future.

Who Will Not Be Back For Good Omens Season 3?

While there aren't many things that could make the season 3 experience less enjoyable or exciting for the die-hard fans of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's novel or the show, the changes in the cast or crew could make them question the state of the production.

Good Omens season 2 has already made some changes, bringing back some actors from the first seasons in new roles and recasting the others, but the main characters remained the same. As of today, there is no information about any changes in that department.

As far as we know, Michael Sheen and David Tennant will return to their roles of Aziraphale and Crowley in season 3, if that season happens.

The only person who has confirmed their complete departure is the show's co-showrunner, Douglas Mackinnon. While he worked closely with the team on set for both season 1 and season 2 of the show, he has decided to move on to another job, according to his own Instagram post and comments.

“I’m not involved with this show anymore,” the director plainly stated.

Not many details are known about what led to the creator's departure. However, as Mackinnon mentioned in another comment of his on social media, he has moved on from the show and doesn't have any information about season 3.

Good Omens Season 3 Predictions

As of today, there are no official sources confirming or denying any status on Good Omens season 3. From the universe co-creator himself, Neil Gaiman, to any representatives of Amazon Prime Video, there is silence on whether the show will be renewed or not, and when the season will premiere.

However, according to Deadline's sources, the studio is eyeing a third season, so it is more likely than not that it will happen.

Even if the deal with Amazon falls through for some reason, Good Omens fans need not worry. As Neil Gaiman has already confirmed, the third part of Aziraphale and Crowley's story would be the last, and he intends to publish it in some form or another if season 3 of Good Omens doesn't work out.

Let's just hope we don't end up in another George R.R. Martin kind of situation!
