Kit Harington Сouldn't Stand One Thing We All Loved In Game of Thrones
The feeling was always mutual.
The success of Game of Thrones has always been made up of several parts that made the show so unique to both the movie and television. While some of these turned out to be great advances, others led to the series' infamously bad finale.
Whatever your feelings about the cast, the way the show was directed, and the original story by George R.R. Martin, chances are you loved the dragons of Game of Thrones as much as the next person. From the moment they were born to the first time they took to the skies, dragons were fascinating to watch.
No wonder that when the time came to expand the universe with a spin-off, it was decided to focus on the Targaryen family. After the failure of the Game of Thrones ending, House of the Dragon was the only story that could possibly regain the audience's trust.
What will surprise you is that the actors were not as happy and excited about their dragon scenes as we were to see them. For Kit Harington, for example, the dragon scenes were a torture to film. The actor opened up about his experience in an interview with the Evening Standard:
“Emilia had been moaning about it for seasons, and I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever.’ But she was absolutely right. It was horrific. It’s not acting at all. It is not acting, it never will be acting, and it is not what I’d signed up for. It is very uncomfortable as a man,” he explained.
The problems come from the CGI nature of the creatures. While shooting the scenes, the actors are left with a rather uncomfortable robotic machine that mimics the dragon's movements. The appearance of said dragon is completely left to their imagination.
The only hope is that Harington had a much better experience voicing his How To Train Your Dragon role of Eret. After all, the actor was completely safe from the physical element of the project.
