Kevin Costner Starts Work on Horizon 3, Releases BTS Photos
Four weeks before Chapter 1’s premiere, Costner is already working on Chapter 3.
Horizon: An American Saga is Kevin Costner ’s dream project. Tens of years in planning and crafting, the iconic Western star finally managed to get the ball rolling — and now, he’s not going to stop. The first two movies only just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and the audience haven’t even caught a glimpse of them yet, and Costner is already back out there, filming the third installment. What’s the hurry?
Costner Started Production on Horizon 3
Recently, Kevin Costner took to his Instagram page and provided an exciting update for his fans. In the actor and writing director’s latest post, he shared a couple of behind-the-scenes pictures from the filming of the third Horizon movie and confirmed that he had started work on it. In the pictures, Costner is standing next to a trio of Native Americans who are riding horses, giving us a glimpse into the series’ future.
“Back on the ground working on #HorizonAmericanSaga Part 3. Hard to believe that Part 1 will be in theaters in less than a month now. I hope you’ll go and see what we’ve put together for you,” Costner wrote under the photos.
In the comment section, fans are going wild, cheering up the Western star and sharing their excitement about Horizon’s upcoming premiere. Well, except for that one person ranting about how a full beard suits Costner better than a mustache.
Why Does Costner Make Horizon Films So Fast?
While the start of production on Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 3 is great news for Costner’s fans either way, it appears rather weird. After all, Chapter 1 will only premiere on June 28, 2024, and Chapter 2 is scheduled to hit the theaters on August 16, 2024, another seven weeks later. Why is the Western star already making the third movie with next to no feedback on the previous ones?
The Horizon movies are Costner’s biggest, most ambitious, and important project. After spending a lifetime trying to set them in motion and funding their production largely out of his own pocket, the director intends to see his most epic saga to the end, no matter the cost. Even if Horizon 1 & 2 don’t work miracles at the box office, at this point, the series’ completion itself is Kevin Costner’s primary goal.
