Keanu Reeves Jumped off a Skyscraper 20 Times for the Perfect Film Shot
Despite closing in on his sixties, Reeves shows no signs of slowing down.
Time passes, the world changes constantly, but one thing always remains true: Keanu Reeves is still the Internet's most beloved sweetheart, and fans adore him just as much today as they did 20 years ago. But Keanu is far more than a wholesome guy with a tragic fate — he's also an outstanding professional.
Apart from his amazing acting talent, Reeves is a very dedicated action performer. Much like his more insane colleagues (we're looking at you, Mr. Cruise), the Matrix actor prefers doing his own stunts to keep the action real and natural. And while this was not surprising in the early part of his career, Keanu is now 58, but it doesn't look like the actor is going to slow down or have some rest.
We all know that Keanu Reeves performed his own stunts in all four John Wick movies, but his resume consists of many more action pictures where the actor followed the same rule. The Matrix, the franchise that launched Keanu's success, recently received an unexpected sequel, and even though it's been over 20 years since the first film, Reeves still wanted to do the stunts himself.
In 2021's The Matrix Resurrections, the actor and his co-star Carrie-Anne Moss jumped off a 43-story-tall skyscraper. That kind of stunt begs for the use of CGI or at least a stunt double, but Keanu was adamant: he had to do the jump himself.
For weeks, he and Carrie-Anne were undergoing special training, planning, and preparing for the dangerous scene. The jump had to be accurate and precise as there was nothing but a thin wire to protect the actors from falling, and there was a lot of risk involved.
In the end, even despite the extensive practice, it took 20 takes to execute the jump perfectly, but the end result was worth it. Reeves and Moss managed to pull off the stunt incredibly well, and though the movie itself didn't receive much praise from the audience and critics, Keanu and Carrie-Anne's performance was admirable in the scene.
