Unlike her character’s wishes, the actress’ desire in this case got a total approval.

It’s been years since The Big Bang Theory wrapped it all up with a relatively happy ending, but its story is far from being over yet, giving more and more chances for familiar faces to come back to the screen, though sometimes not in the same way as before.

The show’s prequel Young Sheldon reintroduced the titular character’s original actor Jim Parsons as its narrator and once even featured Kaley Cuoco ’s voice in a very unexpected manner.

The latter’s brief comeback to the story gave a whole new reason for more speculations, since Cuoco’s cameo role remained uncredited, yet fans now can finally sleep tight knowing that there’s a pretty clear explanation for it.

Famous for her role of Penny in The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco actually had a minor role in Young Sheldon, but not many may have noticed it.

The show’s season 3 episode 10 titled Teenager Soup and a Little Ball of Fib catches Sheldon trying to avoid going to a swimming pool since it may be full of all kinds of germs that Sheldon is forever terrified of.

At night, the character dreams of getting closer to the pool that talks him into giving it a try, and the pool actually speaks with Kaley Cuoco’s voice. Since the latter was never mentioned in the post-episode credits, it’s not that surprising that many still had no clue about Penny’s peculiar interaction with a younger version of her best friend.

However, the pool remaining anonymous had nothing to do with presumably bad relationships of The Big Bang Theory’s cast and crew – in fact, this was exactly what Kaley Cuoco wanted herself.

According to Young Sheldon’s co-creator Steve Molaro, as soon as he saw the script he instantly knew that he wanted Cuoco for the role, and when he reached out to the actress she was quick to express her interest in doing the part.

Since Molaro initially wanted to keep Cuoco’s cameo role a secret at least for the promo materials ahead of the episode’s release, he revealed it to her at once, but instead Cuoco herself suggested that they shouldn’t unveil the secret at all.

As Molaro explained, “Kaley wanted to hold it under wraps as well so that if you figured it out it would be a little Easter Egg for you, so we were all on the same page about that.”

The sporadic idea turned out to be a success since attentive fans were excited about Kaley Cuoco’s return to the franchise.

The actress’ little role also gained a much more profound meaning considering that her character Penny, just like the talking pool in Young Sheldon, has always encouraged Sheldon to get out of his comfort zone and try new things, which eventually had a major impact on the grown-up character and gave him a significant development.
