Kaley Cuoco Can Return to TBBT After Repeating Her Character’s Disheartening Fate
The actress still had much more luck than her character anyway.
The Big Bang Theory may never be back on the screens again after its ending in 2019, but its prequel Young Sheldon has transformed the whole story into an incredibly successful franchise that still has chances to bring some familiar faces back in the light.
Though both shows’ creators are currently keeping busy taking a closer look at the life of Sheldon’s older brother Georgie in the upcoming spinoff titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the chances for the franchise to turn to the future instead of the past are still pretty high.
In this regard, it might be a really good moment to plan a return of The Big Bang Theory’s fan-favorite lead.
Though the original show’s cancellation after 12 seasons turned out to be a huge shock for both viewers and the cast members, the latter ones were pretty quick to get immersed in completely new projects, though all the good luck that The Big Bang Theory brought them didn’t last that long for some of them.
Despite completely changing her career focus and turning to more serious roles after the sitcom wrapped it all up, Penny’s actress Kaley Cuoco seemingly had a very Penny-coded moment since the actress’ two recent promising projects completely bombed.
Back in 2020, Cuoco made a grand comeback to TV screens with a leading role in a brand new mystery show Flight Attendant, but the series didn’t have much time to thrive as it was scrapped after 2 highly acclaimed seasons earlier this year.
Cuoco’s latest flick, a 2024 action comedy movie Role Play, wasn’t even able to get her some accolades, landing quite average scores of 26% and 43% from critics and viewers respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
Considering that the actress’ latest projects didn’t have that much luck and she seemingly doesn’t have any other one coming to the screens soon, this might become an incentive for Cuoco to reach out to The Big Bang Theory’s creator Chuck Lorre suggesting some kind of idea for the franchise’s new spinoff or rather another cameo role.
Ever since The Big Bang Theory ended several years ago, the actress has been vocal about her enthusiasm regarding the show’s possible revival or reunion, hinting that she would always be just one call away.
On top of that, given that Penny has been one of the entire series’ best characters that always had a lot of love from fans, Cuoco’s return to the screen surely wouldn’t meet any obstacle, at least when it comes to her fans’ desire to see how Penny is doing right now.
