The former king of Hollywood is returning with the most suitable role: the French movie with Johnny Depp as King Louis XV is on its way to America.

The last few years have not been kind to Johnny Depp, and the actor famously lost one too many movie contracts thanks to the legal battle with his ex-wife.

It took some time after his eventual victory in the court, but now Johnny is back, and he's back as a king.

The actor's first movie since his exodus from Hollywood is called Jeanne du Barry, and it also happens to be Depp's first movie in French.

In Jeanne du Barry, he plays King Louis XV, and as a funny coincidence, his character is responsible for a controversy in the royal court as he takes a young working-class woman as his mistress.

In Cannes, Jeanne du Barry was the first-night headliner which received great recognition in the form of a long standing ovation from the audience.

After the Festival, the movie was out in France where it managed to sell over 550k tickets and gross over $4.1M on the local market.

Now, it's time for it to move on — and time for Johnny Depp to come back to his domestic screens.

For North America, Jeanne du Barry has been acquired by Vertical and is expected to hit the theaters soon. Being called "Johnny Depp's Big Comeback," it's likely that the movie will be far more popular in the US than it would've been otherwise... Considering it's a film about a French monarch, that is.

While some of the reviews point out that Depp's performance is not at its all-time high in Jeanne du Barry, the general public largely enjoyed it, and this will become all the better as the film comes to the US screens.

Regardless of the exact movie, the majority of the American audience wants Johnny back, and he is certain to receive a great welcome on his way home.
