J.K.Rowling Couldn't Care Less About Calls to Boycott New Harry Potter TV Series
The reboot hasn't even been filmed yet, but it's already generating so much buzz.
HBO's Harry Potter TV series is now in development, but the moment the reboot was announced, the army of online haters was awakened.
The Internet exploded with opinions that the new series was nothing more than a cash cow, and that making it was a waste of time.
Many people already urge to boycott the upcoming reboot, even though virtually nothing about it is known.
Not only were the boycotters concerned that their beloved franchise was about to be rebooted for television, but most of them didn't want it to happen with J.K. Rowling as executive producer of the new show in light of her controversial statements on trans rights.
For those blissfully unaware: at the beginning of the month, Warner Bros. announced that they had ordered an "original Harry Potter scripted series" to be produced over a 10-year time period, with each season based on one of the seven books.
So doing it without Rowling would feel a little unfair to her, at the very least. Therefore, no matter if fans like it or not, the author is on board.
So the online attackers felt they had to let Rowling know how they felt about her involvement in the project. But it seems she couldn't care less.
When she gave a sarcastic response on her Twitter, it immediately showed her attitude towards the whole mess.
"I've taken the precaution of laying in a large stock of champagne," she said in her Twitter account.
Well, with that kind of spirit, it seems like the boycotters would be better off saving their energy for hating something else. It's a good thing we live in a reboot era now… is it?
