Jensen Ackles Was Not So Sure About 'The Winchesters' At First
The CW's main hit 'Supernatural' has become a worldwide phenomenon; so many fans were saddened when the series ended after a fruitful 15 seasons run. However, Jensen Ackles is not done with the franchise – prequel series 'The Winchesters' is currently in the works.
The upcoming TV show will center on Sam and Dean Winchester's parents in the early stages of their romance, fighting evil and saving the world in the process. Ackles will return as the narrator and executive producer of the series. Given the show's pedigree, it seems likely that high ratings and critical acclaim await it, but Ackles himself was unsure if the show would work out in the early stages of development.
"To be honest, I was like, 'I don't know if we can do this… we know we have to do this, and we know we have to do that, but if we just connect those dots with a straight line, that's not entertaining. That's boring. That's a simple story. If we connect those dots in a much crazier, wild Supernatural way, then we've got a show. So that's what we've been doing", actor told TVLine.
The pilot episode was ordered by CW and will be written by 'Supernatural' alum Robbie Thompson. Filming of the series has not yet begun, but fans are already looking forward to visiting their favorite universe once again.
