She looked great on the screen no matter what.

It's no secret that many actors and actresses have to undergo some physical changes to fit the role they're playing.

Some need to put on muscle, some need to put on weight, and some need to wear colored lenses and wigs on set.

Either way, if the change is necessary, it has to be done: that's part of the actor's job. But what if there's no reason for the change? Is it possible to refuse the request and still keep the role?

Well, Jennifer Lawrence did it with The Hunger Games, a three-part film saga based on the books of the same name. It turns out that the actress was pressured by the production team to lose weight.

Apparently, they wanted her to be 10 pounds lighter, but Lawrence refused and focused on training. She wanted to look fit and strong, not skinny and fragile.

But that wasn't the only reason why losing weight didn't feel right in this situation. The actress shared her thoughts in Variety's Actors on Actors segment while being interviewed by Viola Davis:

"In addition to me being young and growing and not being able to diet, I don't know if I want all the girls who want to dress up as Katniss to feel like they can't because they're not a certain weight. And I can't let that seep into my brain."

Such a responsible and thoughtful decision allowed Lawrence to gain more respect for herself without taking anything away from the movie.

10 pounds lighter or not, Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen looks incredible on screen and seems to be exactly who she is. Strong, fierce, and strong-willed girl fighting for her own life.

If you want to see Lawrence's performance in The Hunger Games for yourself, you can watch the movies on Netflix, MAX and Peacock Premium.
