Despite openly stating that they’d like to work together and meeting for several auditions, J-Law and Quentin Tarantino have never worked together — but why?

If you’ve never managed to find a single Jennifer Lawrence in any of Quentin Tarantino ’s movies, don’t worry: it’s not your eyesight. Even though both the actress and the director have claimed that they’d love to work on a film together on multiple occasions, they never really got to that — and the only question is, why?

J-Law is one of the most sought-after actresses of our time, with a great resume, two Academy Awards, immense paychecks, and the reputation of a down-to-earth and fan-favorite celebrity.

Quentin Tarantino doesn’t even need to be introduced, let’s be real. The man is simply one of the greatest directors of all time, and his movies become a classic the moment they release.

This looks like a perfect match because it is. But even despite admiring each other from a distance, Tarantino and Lawrence never met on the set of a movie, though they met for a couple of auditions; the process never moved on from there, however.

The first time Tarantino reached out to J-Law was for a role in 2015’s The Hateful Eight. The director reached out to her personally to invite her for an audition, and the actress came.

Unfortunately, she was all too busy with her other projects and couldn’t possibly fit such a massive project into her schedule.

“I’m a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan and I can see her doing a good job with this role, so we went to talk about it and everything. She was just doing me a courtesy to see me, I think… She was doing Joy. She had to do all this publicity on the Hunger Games movies. There was just no f*cking way in the world that she was available,” shared the director.

The second time Tarantino contacted Jennifer was to cast her in his 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Once again, he invited the actress for an audition, and she obliged. Lawrence was on board with the idea, but something got in the way.

"Early on, in the pre-production of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, I flirted around with the idea of Jennifer Lawrence playing Squeaky. She came down to the house to read the script, 'cause I wasn't letting it out…’ She read it, and afterward, we talked about it a little bit. She was interested in doing it, but something didn't work out,” shared Tarantino who was still pretty clueless as to the reasons behind the rejection.

Despite their collaboration failing twice already, there’s still hope that someday, Jennifer will be available for the director’s new movie. They both praise each other openly and state that they’d love to work together… So perhaps, the third time’s a charm!
