James Phelps’ Most Hated Harry Potter Scene Took Two Weeks to Shoot

The Harry Potter series have given us some of the best on-screen characters that captured our hearts. Even side characters like Fred and George Weasley always delivered.

These pranksters brought an incredible amount of levity to J.K. Rowling's series and kept us laughing through some of the darker times. But have you ever wondered what it was like to actually portray the Weasley brothers?

Who better to share that experience than the twins themselves — James and Oliver Phelps. Despite having little to no professional acting experience at the time, they perfectly embodied the mischievous spirit of the characters.

In the most recent episode of the Inside of You podcast, the twin brothers opened up about their most and least favorite moments on the Harry Potter set.

Both actors agreed that they had a blast filming the scenes in the joke shop, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, in the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

The set was a colorful explosion of magic and mischief, exactly what you'd expect from the twins.

"It was all about us," said James, explaining why he loved this scene the most.

Every actor loves having their moment in the spotlight, and this was definitely that for the Phelps twins.

When asked if they preferred working together or individually, both brothers seemed pretty chill with the idea of doing both. "Working together is great, but also working individually is always nice," said Oliver.

The most interesting part was when Michael Rosenbaum, the host of the podcast, asked the brothers about their least favorite scenes.

Turns out Oliver was not a fan of shooting the Quidditch scenes in the third movie because of artificial rain and having a gigantic fan blasting cold air at you in front of a green screen.

"I feel shattered when I think about it, both physically and metaphorically," Oliver said, which pretty much sums it up.

The scene in the sixth movie, when the Weasley's house catches fire, as visually stunning as it was, turned out to be James’ least favorite. James revealed that it took two weeks of night shoots in uncomfortable conditions.

"It was cold and wet and all those fun things which no one realizes go on when you're filming," he said.
