When should we expect a new Batman movie?

James Gunn, who is in charge of DC Studios now, is planning to reboot the whole DC Universe, with The Flash movie being the final project in the current DC Extended Universe. First big movie in the new DCU is going to be Superman Legacy, and it's set to hit theaters in July 2025.

Another confirmed project in the works is called The Brave and the Bold. The movie is going to focus on Batman and Robin in a somewhat father-son story. Damian Wayne will be Robin this time, Batman’s son he didn’t know about for a long time. The movie will be based on the Grant Morrison comic books.

They're still in the early stages of this project, and fans are dying to know who is going to portray Batman after Ben Affleck.

James Gunn has recently responded to a fan on Instagram when asked how close we are to a casting for Batman. He said: “Miles and miles away.”

Currently, they can't even get started on the script due to the ongoing writers strike. The movie is so far off that they're not even close to starting the casting process, let alone announcing an actor for the role.

Neither do we have a clue about the exact release date yet. It's highly unlikely it'll hit theaters in 2025 because the first DCU movie, Superman Legacy, is already set for July that year.

Plus, The Batman — Part II with Robert Pattinson will be released in 2025 as well. It looks like we'll probably have to wait till 2026 or even 2027 to see The Brave and the Bold.

One thing is for sure, Robert Pattinson isn’t the new Batman of DCU. Gunn confirmed that it’s not going to be him, and Matt Reeves’ movies will remain a separate thing.

However, we know the name of the director. Andy Muschietti, the director of The Flash is set to helm the project. In an interview with Variety, James Gunn and Peter Safran (co-chairman of DC studios) said that they were thrilled with Muschietti’s work, and he would be the perfect choice for the upcoming movie.
