Amid the Superman: Legacy speculations and discussions, James Gunn revealed which part of the Man of Steel’s story will be featured in the movie… Out of spite.

James Gunn is oh so famous for interacting with fans on Twitter. The director typically chats with the audience, answers their questions, and debunks rumors almost every day — and the last part is what he’s most known for. James Gunn hates scoops and speculations and goes out of his way to punish them.

It’s only predictable that after the director became the co-head of DC, the speculations he had to deal with became tenfold more intense. Now, Gunn’s asked about all things related to the new DCU as well as his own past and future projects… But even if he’s tired, he always has the energy to debunk some false scoops!

As people were speculating about the timeline of Superman: Legacy — after James Gunn explained Cavill’s exit by claiming that he needed a younger actor — many have settled on the “workplace origin story” description that doesn’t even sound like a proper sentence. Many fans were convinced these were Gunn’s words, too.

Of course, no self-respecting Gunn could possibly allow such travesty to thrive — and after one of the fans mentioned this description to the director himself acting as if it was a settled matter, Gunn hurried to shut down the rumor. He also gave away his true intentions for the Man of Steel's first relaunch movie, accidentally or not.

“I didn’t say it was a workplace origin story (it’s not). I said it takes place during Clark’s earlier years at the Daily Planet,” responded the director.

There you have it, folks! Superman: Legacy will not feature the creation of the Daily Planet but will show the younger and less experienced Clark Kent as he tries to make a name both as a hero and an aspiring journalist — which also explains Gunn’s decision to swap out Henry Cavill for his younger lookalike David Corenswet.

For a man who doesn’t like being messed with, James Gunn uses false scoops way too efficiently to drop-feed news about his franchises. At this point, we’re fairly certain that the director actually enjoys this process from the bottom of his heart.
