Is Hugh Jackman Still Eligible To Be The Next James Bond?

All jokes aside, Hugh Jackman, probably best known for his portrayal of Wolverine, opened up about being asked to play the infamous spy.

In an episode of the Graham Norton Show, apart from courteously flirting with Dame Judy Dench, the Australian actor said that before the Craig cycle of Bondiana began to film, he himself had been invited to audition for the role.

"It was one of those things where I have since found out when I was being asked if I was interested, about eight other actors were being asked at the same time. Including Daniel Craig …", Jackman said.

James Bond has been portrayed by many actors and the film list comprises dozens of pictures, but Craig's Bond is arguably one of the two best, alongside Sean Connery's.

Both the portrayal and the scripts made it possible for the Craig cycle to have spanned 5 films and ended in 2021, when theaters were open back again, with a beautiful No Time To Die.

Would we change the brilliance of Daniel Craig's 007 to a Jackman Bond? Empirically speaking, it is highly unlikely. But is the jacked Aussie still a valid choice for the next super-agent? Let's think about it!

Even though he is very handsome, well-built for the role, and undoubtedly can impersonate a Brit, Hugh Jackman is unlikely to make a strategic pick.

He will be in the character's age gap for the next ten years, which will suffice for only two to three films, after which the franchise will have to be renewed again, so there couldn't be any serious plot developments over several movies.

Moreover, Jackman is Australian, which technically makes him ineligible for the traditionally British role. And at last, he is too famous for his other works, which would make a competition for his 007 portrayal.

The next Mister Bond is much anticipated and yet to be announced. There are even rumors that it might be a woman. Whoever the next 007 is, they will face a lot of pressure from the fans of this beloved classic.
