Fans are sure that the show will offer a fresh and unique take, just like the original comics.

With the recent releases of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Flash, the concept of the multiverse is at an all-time high, with fans and creators alike voicing their opinions on the pros and cons of using it.

While some believe that it is a great way to allow for more creative freedom, as in the adventures of Miles Morales, others say that it completely erases all the high stakes and only brings more confusion to fictional universes.

And everyone seems to have forgotten that another highly anticipated upcoming release will also play with the concept.

Speaking with Inverse, Robert Kirkman, who is behind both the original Invincible comics and the animated TV adaptation, revealed that season 2 will introduce another villain named Angstrom Levy.

And fans familiar with the comics already know what that means, as he has the ability to access alternate dimensions, so "it's another one of those dang multiverse things."

However, as fans point out, it was a huge plot point in the original comics that was done well, so it is not a case of adding multiverse just because everyone else is doing it.

They say Angstrom Levy is one of, if not the best villain in Invincible, and the whole concept doesn't overwhelm the main arc.

Unlike many other instances of its use, the multiverse here doesn't take up much time and is used in isolation with just one villain.

Moreover, the multiverse has been around in various comics for a long time before it was implemented into every superhero story on the big screen, and Invincible does a great job of taking classic, overused tropes and making them exciting again.

With all that in mind, it seems that the animated series will manage to stay fresh and interesting despite the addition of the potentially alarming and tired concept.

The exact release date for Invincible season 2 hasn't been announced yet, but it's scheduled for late 2023.
