With Dwayne Johnson officially out of the DCU first chapter of storytelling, it's bold to hope that other old characters are still game.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have been quite merciless to the usual DC line-up so far as they pursue their own vision of the cinematic universe. So far, Henry Cavill 's Superman and Dwayne Johnson 's Black Adam are officially out of DCU; and fans are really concerned about the future of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Zachary Levi's Shazam.

As for Gadot's Diana, it's unlikely she will get her third movie in the nearest future, with director Patty Jenkins already clearing things up on the future of the franchise and saying that Gunn and Safran do not have Gadot's character in their vision right now.

With Levi's Shazam, the situation is a bit more difficult. In the wake of Dwayne Johnson's bitter statement on Black Adam, in which he also confirmed that the anti-hero is not a part of Gunn and Safran's short-term plans, some insiders claimed that Gadot and Levi will share his fate.

Quick Guide Into Why Black Adam Flopped So Hard

According to MyTimeToShine, both Gadot's Wonder Woman and Levi's Shazam are "gone" for DCU since they "belong to another universe in the Multiverse now", and therefore can only show up in some future ensemble films as an experiment with alternate dimensions.

However, Levi himself has a different opinion on that. In response to the DC fandom's concerns that his character will not appear in the DCU anymore, he offered an optimistic message.

"Oooh, I really wouldn't go believing everything you see on the internet. I'm Gucci, Ash. We all Gucci," Levi tweeted, responding to one fan who was about to get upset over the rumors.

So far, no official statements or comments from the studio have clarified Shazam's future. As of now, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023, but it's unclear whether the franchise will be continued under Gunn and Safran, or if they will offer a different vision for the character like they already did for Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the rest of the iconic line-up.
