Insane Harry Potter Theory Suggests Hagrid is... a Death Eater

One fan suggested that Rubeus Hagrid was actually an evil wizard in Lord Voldemort's employ, serving as a double agent.

The Reddit user, Whoofph, who suggested the idea admitted that J. K. Rowling probably didn't want Hagrid to be a Death Eater, but unfortunately the "evidence" points too clearly in that direction.

According to this theory, Hagrid was actually one of Tom Riddle's friends or associates when he was a student at Hogwarts. For many years Hagrid was fascinated by unusual creatures that could only be obtained on a sort of black market, accessible only to members of the dark circles of magicians.

This led Hagrid to act as one of Voldemort's spies during the First Wizarding War and to remain secretly loyal to the Dark Lord even after his defeat.

Also proving Hagrid's loyalty to Voldemort is the fact that he was one of the few who actually understood the connection between Tom Riddle and Voldemort.

However, there are two other most reliable arguments in favor of this theory, and these are Hagrid's attempts to arrange a meeting between Harry and Voldemort.

The first is in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Hagrid decides to take the Golden Trio to the Forbidden Forest, thus setting up a possible meeting between Voldemort and Harry.

Then, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hagrid conspires with Barty Crouch to have Harry win the Triwizard Tournament, which is what the Dark Lord wanted.

In addition, Hagrid speaks rather rudely of Muggles on several occasions, calling them "filthy Muggles."

The moment when he attaches a pig's tail to Dudley Dursley shows not only his prejudice against Muggles, but also the level of his magical abilities – conjuring a tail using non-verbal magic, while using a broken wand, is a level of skill expected of either top-level wizards or Death Eaters.

There's even more evidence in the original Reddit post that Hagrid wasn't really who he claimed to be. But even this list is enough to make you wonder – was Rowling intentionally hinting at the true nature of Hagrid, or is it all just one big coincidence?
