If You Think Ahsoka Feels A Lot Like Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix, You're Right
One particular scene in the latest episode of the Star Wars series bears a striking resemblance to the fifth Harry Potter movie.
The third episode of the Ahsoka TV series, which was released on August 29, 2023, brought some new interesting developments to the plot, such as confirming that Morgan Elsbeth is indeed building a giant hyperspace ring capable of reaching another galaxy.
It also suggested that the villains may not be as united as they first appeared, as Elsbeth's interactions with Shin Hati seemed a bit hostile, possibly setting up a future conflict.
Curiously, during another key scene that showed the incompetence of the New Republic's higher-ups, fans of another major movie franchise, Harry Potter, felt a sense of déjà vu.
When Hera Syndulla tries to explain that Grand Admiral Thrawn, who disappeared years ago during the events of the Star Wars Rebels animated series, is actually alive and able to pose a threat to the New Republic, the senators' reaction to the news is frustratingly arrogant.
They don't believe a word Hera says and refuse to authorize an operation to further investigate the looming threat, believing Thrawn to be dead despite having no hard evidence of this and knowing full well that he just disappeared into hyperspace.
This scene resembles a similar one in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when The Boy Who Lived is interrogated by Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge about the dementor attack at the beginning of the movie.
When Albus Dumbledore himself intervenes, defending his student and declaring that Lord Voldemort has returned, Fudge stubbornly denies the threat and completely ignores the warning.
Of course, the obnoxious minister soon learns the hard truth and resigns, and no doubt a similar situation will play out later in the Ahsoka TV series.
Hopefully, as in Fudge's case, the senators' stupidity will at least cost them their positions in the New Republic government, otherwise it will be hard to root for the good guys to win when they are ruled by a group of such buffoons.
Ahsoka episode 4 will premiere on September 5, 2023.
