The audience wouldn't be surprised to see writers drop this arc fully.

With as many characters and as many storylines as General Hospital has, it's not entirely surprising that they sometimes get left behind.

It's hard to maintain the highest quality for over 60 years, so audiences would be happy to turn a blind eye to some failures.

But sometimes they're just too big, and there are just too many of them, to turn a blind eye any longer. Especially when those arcs are as forced and hyped up as Willow's was.

The question of someone's parentage is probably one of the oldest in soap opera history. There are many examples of this type of storyline being done so well that the audience is left breathless by the news.

General Hospital, however, took a more dramatic approach to tell the story, and fans were not thrilled about it one bit.

While some are just annoyed about the unnecessary addition of yet another deadly disease to the story, others feel that Willow being Nina's daughter doesn't help the plot at all and shouldn't have been added.

Both complaints are valid, as the endings of both storylines were underwhelming, to say the least.

Once again, General Hospital led its viewers to believe that they were following an important part of the story, only to make it meaningless.

Fans were on the story from the beginning when the original Nina was giving Willow a hard time as a teacher. There was no doubt that this was how it was going to end, so were the years of build-up worth it?

Anyway, the only thing that could somehow turn the story around and give it a real soapy feel would be Willow's sudden death.

Of course, it wouldn't give the fans back the hours they've spent watching the plot unfold, but it would help underscore the significance of the health problems she had to endure.

Whether the writers will go that route is questionable, as they don't seem to be too concerned with all the loose ends.
