Ian McKellen's Magneto Rumored to Return in Two Major MCU Movies
It also looks like we'll be seeing more of Patrick Stewart's Professor X.
Patrick Stewart has spilled some tea about Charles Xavier's future in the MCU, and also teased a possible return of Sir Ian McKellen and his Magneto while speaking with ET Online.
According to the actor, he and McKellen "got plans" to return as their respective X-Men characters, and some insiders think they know when the comeback can be expected.
Pop culture insider MyTimeToShineHello has suggested that the two actors could make cameo appearances in Deadpool 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars. Without an official confirmation from Marvel Studios or the actors, this remains nothing more than speculation.
However, with Deadpool 3 already securing the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, it's quite possible that the Ryan Reynolds-led film won't stop with just one X-Men alum. Meanwhile, Secret Wars will be a massive Avengers event that will likely rely heavily on multiple cameos, with the multiverse making virtually anything possible.
When asked directly about his potential MCU return, Stewart said "can't say about what Charles' future might possibly hold."
He already made a bombastic appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, only to have his neck snapped by Wanda Maximoff during her multiversal killing spree.
However, there is another Magneto that fans have been clamoring to see — the one portrayed by Michael Fassbender. It was rumored that Fassbender's cameo was filmed for Multiverse of Madness but never made it into the final cut, but just like Stewart and McKellan, Fassbender has plenty of time and opportunity to appear in other MCU projects.
