Hear me out and I’m sure you’ll all agree with me.

There’s no doubt that Friends is an iconic series that deserves to be watched at least once by each and every person in the world. I believe the reason for that is simple: you have to be able to catch all the memes that the series brought to life!

Well, that’s what I call the main reason, but there are also a bunch of secondary thoughts. Friends is a very relatable show that can give you answers on your many life situations, pointing out what not to do in any of them.

Having the six main characters continuously being trapped in so many ridiculous shenanigans really makes you wonder what if your real life would be like that? Well, the good thing is that it’s just a sitcom and many of the storylines are simply exaggerated to be better received.

However, what the fans still can't quite understand is why would the writers of the series introduce so many outright cringeworthy plots? In my opinion, the worst of them all is the obsession with age gap relationships.

Monica and Richard

I’m sure you thought of the sweet and sexy Monica vs. Richard tandem now, and probably are even ready to fight for their love, but be real for once: isn’t it cringey to date a man whose pool you once used as WC?

But if there’s at least some real feelings in their unfortunate relationship, here comes the ones that were really so unnecessary and definitely wouldn’t fly in a modern sitcom created now.

Ross and Elizabeth

I mean, what the hell was that? If the writers wanted Ross to have a relationship with his student, why wouldn't they just pair him with the one who's the right age to drink? It seems like they just wanted to show Ross at his lowest. Well, guess what: the scene with the leather pants and all the cream will never be topped.

Monica and Ethan

Another terrible relationship with a huge age gap was the one with Monica and “Young Ethan”. She didn’t realize until they had slept together, that Young Ethan is a lot younger than she thought. In fact, he was a school kid, so, as she said herself, what they did was forbidden in 48 states.
