How to Play All The Witcher Games in the Correct Order Before Season 4 Drops

The Price of Neutrality (The Witcher Premium Module)

Returning to Kaer Morhen for winter, Geralt finds himself in a precarious spot: the people of Henselt, the king of Kaedwen, have gathered near the witchers’ stronghold demanding that the monster hunters refuse refuge to Deidre, the supposed destroyer of the world. Geralt must make a tough decision with dire consequences all around.

Side Effects (The Witcher Premium Module)

Geralt finds his old friend Dandelion stuck in Vizima’s prison where he hides from the men he wronged, and the “protective custody” he made up for himself finds him owing a large sum to a local shark. Since Geralt is his only hope, it falls to the White Wolf to raise the funds necessary to pay for his unfortunate friend’s safety.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (Video Game)

Thronebreaker is very different from all the other entries on our list. First, it’s an anthology of several stories; second, it follows Queen Meve instead of Geralt; third, it’s a card-based video game. In Thronebreaker, the player visits multiple important locations: Lyria, Aedirn, Mahakam, Angren, Rivia, and a few others.

The Witcher (Video Game)

The White Wolf loses his memories: he has no idea who he is and what’s his story. Thrown into the unknown world that remembers him, mind you, very well, Geralt has to rediscover himself and the people who used to be his friends, allies, and enemies. The political struggle around the witcher doesn’t make his task any easier, either.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (Video Game)

After saving king Foltest from an assassination attempt, Geralt essentially becomes his bodyguard but fails at his job. A mysterious group of witchers starts a hunt on powerful kings, and the White Wolf is in the middle of it all — not out of his notorious love for politics, of course, but because of the need to stop the murderous witchers.

Killing Monsters (The Witcher 3 Cinematic)

Geralt of Rivia just completed a mission from the Nilfgaardian soldiers, killing the monster that was terrorizing them. When he accepted the award, he saw the soldiers beating up and trying to kill a peasant woman, and the White Wolf embraces the fact that the creature he was just paid for won’t be the only monster he kills today.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Video Game)

The Northern Kingdoms are falling as the Nilfgaardian Empire advances north once again, but the political games and wars are petty before the real threat no one seems to care about: the Wild Hunt is back. Geralt of Rivia feels personal responsibility for stopping the Hunt before it’s too late because this time, the riders came for Ciri.

Hearts of Stone (The Witcher 3 DLC)

The White Wolf’s mission leads him into the service of an immortal man who tricks the witcher into fulfilling three wishes of his. The wishes seem impossible, but with the help of a mysterious stranger, Geralt completes them all. The witcher seeks retribution for being fooled but finds out that all this time, he’s been manipulated.

Blood and Wine (The Witcher 3 DLC)

Geralt’s new contract takes him to Toussaint where the noble knights are being killed by a mysterious force. The witcher’s investigation uncovers a web of bloody intrigue woven by the higher vampires and the local political elite. Once again, the White Wolf is forced to take a side and save the duchy’s capital from a potential massacre.

A Night to Remember (The Witcher 3 Cinematic)

Geralt of Rivia is paid to rid the world of a powerful bruxa — a higher vampire so strong she’s not affected by the sun. As they speak before the battle, the bruxa notes that “no amount of coin” could have convinced a witcher to take such a contract before. The fight ensues, and it’s only thanks to his preparations that Geralt survives.
