How TBBT's Kaley Cuoco Broke The Sitcom Actors Curse She Was Terrified Of
The key is not to worry about it too much.
It's safe to say that after a project as big as The Big Bang Theory, the cast is probably going to get some breaks. Suddenly having so much free time after years of hard work must be refreshing and give you a new perspective on life.
While some choose to prolong their hiatus and adjust to a more low-key lifestyle, others continue to seek work in order to climb higher on the career ladder.
However, any star of a highly popular TV show or franchise can find themselves struggling to break the image they created with their previous performance.
As Kaley Cuoco admitted on The One Show, she was one of those people who was terrified of potential audition problems. Although the actress has achieved the fame and success many dreams of, she was also well aware of how difficult it could be to break away from the legacy of The Big Bang Theory and her character, Penny.
“I realized you can't compare anything to Big Bang. <...> I was like, OK, if I can accept that nothing will compare to that — and that I can't control what other people are gonna say about me — I knew my next project was gonna be for me and I was gonna leave that in its own place,” the actress revealed.
While that's true, and such a mindset should have helped the star handle the pressure more easily, it turns out Cuoco didn't have much to worry about at all. Her next project, as dear as it was to her heart, turned out to be a great HBO dark comedy, The Flight Attendant, which was well-received by critics and fans alike.
Since then, Cuoco has stayed busy as an actress, but also found herself in a new role as a mother, so "fading away" after The Big Bang Theory is the last thing the actress has to worry about.
