As soon as the new Harry Potter HBO series was announced, along with Rowling's involvement in it, Potterheads split into two camps: those who wanted to boycott it and those who were just happy that Harry Potter lived on.

The network wants the show to be an accurate adaptation of the books and hopes that each season will follow the events of one book, with seven seasons planned in total.

The famous author is also set to be an executive producer of the series. That doesn't sound good. The real question is – how much money will Rowling make from the new Harry Potter show?

Well, Joanne still owns the intellectual property, and the series will be an adaptation of her books, so she will definitely receive royalties from it.

Considering she will be executive producing the reboot too, she could pocket a whopping £100 million if the project lived to be seven seasons long (via Metro).

Rowling's estimated net worth is close to $1 billion (though she has repeatedly denied the claims that she is a billionaire), and that is mostly thanks to the Harry Potter books and various associated projects.

You can hate the author all you want now for her allegedly transphobic comments, but no one can deny that the woman does her fair share to help the people in need (more so than other richer and more influential people than her).

J.K. Rowling is famous for continuously donating her fortune to charities, including her own one, Lumos, so we can actually believe her when she says that she isn't worth $1 billion.

She had previously lost her billionaire status due to her regular donations. For instance, in 2011, she gave away 16% of her then net worth, which was estimated at around £130 million.

If all goes well and Rowling gets her £100 million in the next seven years, she could regain her billionaire status in no time.

Let's not forget that she will probably have more Harry Potter projects as well in the future, and she doesn't seem to stop expanding her Cormoran Strike franchise, so chances are – Forbes could put the author back on their rich people list.
