How Did Deadliest Catch’s Fan-Favorite Jake Anderson Lose the Saga & Where Is It Now
It all worked out in the end.
There is so much more to learn and see in the world than we could ever comprehend, but what can feel very distant and unrealistic to us is someone else's everyday life. If anything, Discovery Channel reality shows like Deadliest Catch can serve as a constant reminder of how different and challenging some people's lives are.
Perhaps that is why shows like Deadliest Catch grab viewers' attention so quickly. Facing the deadly challenges of crab fishing in the Bering Sea, viewers feel part of the crew and bond with the participants as if they're right there on the deck. As a result, viewers feel every loss just as keenly.
Jake Anderson's loss of his beloved fishing vessel Saga was one of the hits that is still hard to comprehend, even though it led to Anderson acquiring an even bigger craft.
What Happened to Saga on Deadliest Catch?
Captain Jake Anderson has been a fan favorite for many viewers of the show since 2007, and viewers have shared all the happy and sad moments of his fishing journey over the years. However, the beginning of season 20 was the hardest, as Anderson was forced to let go of Saga for legal reasons.
Although there are no details on what exactly led to Saga's repossession, Jake Anderson himself explained that these events had to do with his partner's actions. Simply put, it wasn't his fault that the boat was lost, but he was the one who was completely lost just before the red crab fishing trip.
“With the boat, I found out on a Friday in August. Everything was situated to go red crab fishing. Then on September 1, things started to look dark. Just before I was getting to go red crab fishing, I found out my partner, with all due respect with the legal things going on, we don't know what he did. I lost my boat,” Anderson said to TVInsider.
Where Is Jake Anderson’s Saga Now?
Although Captain Anderson was able to overcome the struggle and continue fishing on another vessel, the Titan Explorer, it was no walk in the park. Starting over with a new team when he was used to doing things a certain way in the past was a challenge, but one that made his dedication to the job even stronger.
When it comes to legal matters, there have been no official updates. However, if Anderson wants to get his beloved Saga back, he will have to spend a lot of money on it. The ship is currently listed for sale at Dock Street Brokers for $1.8 million.
