It's time to stop blaming the wrong sister.

The one problem with film adaptations that is always discussed, no matter the fandom, is how much creativity producers and writers are allowed to explore without ruining the original concept.

Depending on many factors, loyal fans can both praise and destroy the movie or show for its inaccurate portrayal of the beloved characters.

For the Bridgerton production team, the road was pretty smooth. Even though the characters were changed to better fit the story or to make their on-screen presence stronger, Shonda Rhimes along with her team managed to keep the existing fan base happy and add to it by attracting a new audience with the show.

However, some major changes in season 2 turned the entire fandom against a character who hadn't really done anything wrong.

Though Edwina Sharma wasn't a victim of the story, she wasn't a villain either. Growing up as the youngest child, she had some privileges that her sister did not, including those granted by Kate herself.

Edwina was shielded from real-world problems all her life, so she grew up naive. As was to be expected.

Kate, on the other hand, suffered from the older child syndrome, which led her to believe that everything around her depended on her.

She was always strong and responsible, so she took the burden and went with it, not allowing herself to take a break and analyze her own feelings. Although it may have seemed like the right thing to do, it clearly wasn't.

The thing is, she doesn't have anyone to blame but herself.

In truth, it seems that Kate herself accepted the fact that she was the only obstacle to her own happiness, but the fandom did not.

The difference between the show and the book seemed to make things worse by giving Edwina some feelings for Anthony and making the love story a triangle.

Either way, Shondaland won the attention of the viewers once again, as many believe today that season 2 was even better than season 1.

While there is no official release date for season 3 yet, you may rewatch the first two by streaming Bridgerton on Netflix.
