Who Is Alys Rivers From House of the Dragon?

Speaking to Town & Country Magazine, Gayle Rankin, who will be portraying Alys in the show's second season, gave a little teaser about her character. Although, as she mentioned, her story is "contained" for now, Alys Rivers already has a huge potential that she can't wait to tap into:

“I'm obsessed with [Alys]. I've always given the opportunity to play people who are pretty prophetic, which is cool, but it's a lot of pressure! <...> I want to really ground her and find her humanity—I always try to find my way into that, but she has a lot of power, too,” the actress said.

Although viewers do not yet know which period of the book the second season will cover, making it difficult to predict Alys' involvement in the story, they are certain that her powers will be enough to impress everyone. In the novel written by George R.R. Martin, Alys becomes a powerful ally of Team Green through Aemond Targaryen.

Since Targaryens are powerful warriors who have access to dragons and have been taught to bond with them, but don't actually control them, Alys technically has more power than any of them ever could. Although King Viserys also believed himself to be a prophet, none of his relatives have been shown to inherit these powers.
