Game of Thrones’ universe is seemingly conquering completely different show formats now.

It’s still early to say what the future will hold for yet another spinoff of Game of Thrones, but the universe’s actors appear to have already signed up for the project in their heads should they indeed be officially cast.

George R.R. Martin’s fantasy franchise has recently been keeping busy developing House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with the latter being in the early works right now, but the universe surely has bigger plans for its expansion. With more characters’ stories receiving vaster attention than expected, Game of Thrones’ franchise may soon introduce a spinoff of a spinoff.

As House of the Dragon is set to continue its extremely successful TV run for several years to come, one of its characters might be getting his own show, but in a very weird way.

Back in 2021, it was revealed that HBO writers had pitched another GoT spinoff, this time about House of the Velaryons’ head Corlys Velaryon, nicknamed Sea Snake for his constant sea adventures. The future show titled Nine Voyages was in the works when George R.R. Martin himself announced back in 2023 that the project had a format change and from then on was supposed to be an animated series instead of a live-action show due to budget limits.

Corlys Velaryon Solo Project?

However questionable this whole idea may sound for Game of Thrones’ fans, Corlys Velaryon’s actor Steve Toussaint is more than ready to reprise his role in the series, even if the only thing that’s required is his voice.

In one of his recent interviews ahead of House of the Dragon’s season 2 premiere in several days, Toussaint revealed that he would be down for anything that Nine Voyages’ creators might offer to him, yet he’s still aware that he doesn’t have that many chances.

According to the actor, “people had said to me, ‘Hey great, they're doing a series about your character.’ And I would often say, ‘Well, it’s his younger days and I can no longer play 21 — not feasibly anyway.”

However, he does appear to have an idea for a way out of such an entangled situation stressing that “if I'm lucky, I might say to them, ‘Let me just be at the beginning [of the show] sitting with a book saying, ‘Let me talk about my life.”

Following Toussaint’s reflections on him reprising Corlys’ role in the upcoming spinoff, his co-star Eve Best, who in House of the Dragon portrays Corlys Velaryon’s wife Rhaenys, also got involved in the whole discussion saying that she wouldn’t mind showing up there too and adding that she hopes Rhaenys “gets her nose in somewhere.”

While Nine Voyages is still far away from arriving at the streaming, House of the Dragon’s season 2 is almost here and will land on Max on June 16.
