The season’s most anticipated moment turned into a bunch of problems.

Awaited by millions of fans across the globe, House of the Dragon ’s season 2 has been met with mixed response from the fandom. For months ahead of the premiere episode’s release, the show has been teasing its viewers with lots of promo stuff, with multiple teasers and trailers confirming some viral theories about House Stark’s appearance in the brand new installment.

However, something clearly went wrong in this matter when Game of Thrones ’ prequel brought the fan-favorite family from George R.R. Martin’s books for nothing more than just 5 minutes of screen time.

Apart from several blatant mistakes that the scene was quick to make within such a short time, Jacaerys’s visit to Winterfell also came as a huge disappointment for those who have been expecting some of the characters to repeat what Daenerys Targaryen once did in Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon’s second season briefly features Jacaerys meeting Cregan Stark in Winterfell in episode 1 titled A Son for a Son, though, however short the scene turned out to be, Jacaerys’s dragon Vermax is nowhere to be found, yet it’s pretty clear that he should be somewhere in Winterfell waiting for his master to give him further orders.

The show also has no mention of Sara Snow, a character who appears in George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood and who Jace eventually falls in love with. However, Jace’s love affair never really had that much attention from the fans, especially since dragons flying all the way to northern lands are a very rare thing to happen and thus are an exciting plot twist that was brutally snubbed by House of the Dragon’s creators.

A common desire to see the fire-spitting creatures dealing with never-ending cold in Winterfell is expressed not only by fans of the book where Jacaerys’s visit of House Stark is significantly longer and gets much more detailed attention, but also by those who back in the day enjoyed the original show.

In Game of Thrones, Daenerys Targaryen makes an epic journey all across Westeros flying her dragons to the Wall to save Jon Snow. While now it’s not clear whether the Targaryens will ever visit Winterfell with their dragons before Game of Thrones’ timeline picks the story up, the chances to see the fantastic creatures in some other place but not in their habitat are in fact very low.
