The show’s creators may keep denying it, but the filming location says it all.

House of the Dragon ’s season 2 is just several days away from finally being dropped on Max, and fans are counting days until they finally see whether they were right in their predictions or not.

The show’s approaching installment is set to arrive with a full-scale war between House of Targaryen’s divided family members, and, judging by all the promo that has been released ahead of the new season’s drop, now there’s no place for mercy at all.

However, things may still turn in a very unexpected direction in the second season as fans keep speculating about seeing the show’s lead in a very specific filming location, and so far it doesn’t really make sense.

Back in 2023, when House of the Dragon’s season 2 production was started, the media was swirled by numerous photos coming from the show set, and someone was lucky to catch a glimpse of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s actor Emma D’Arcy, but in a very unusual place for their character.

In May of last year, D’Arcy was spotted in Spanish Cáceres, the location that the show’s creators chose for filming King’s Landing scenes. So far everything seems to be pretty logical until it comes to a realization that King’s Landing is the exact place where Alicent Hightower’s castle is located.

Given that Alicent and her side of the family are Rhaenyra’s worst enemies, the chances that she would ever go there on her own are incredibly low.

With some fans being reassured that Rhaenyra’s unexpected appearance in King’s Landing is nothing more but either Rhaenyra herself or her former best friend Alicent’s potential hallucination, others seem to have high hopes for a plot twist that one popular fan theory once suggested.

Ahead of the approaching war between Rhaenyra and Alicent, many have their fingers crossed that by the end of season 2 both rulers will make their amends and stop the bloody war that took Rhaenyra’s son’s life even before it actually started.

Though so far such a turn of events does seem to be pretty unlikely, Emma D’Arcy’s scenes in King’s Landing still might prove that the show’s second season will indeed feature Rhaenyra and Alicent’s encounter after many years of being apart.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 will premiere on Max on June 16.
