Now everyone knows what to get ready for.

Summary:

  • As a Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon has had a lot of eyes on it from the beginning, and so far the show has exceeded all expectations.
  • With Season 2 just around the corner, HBO has released yet another official trailer, showing even more details of what's to come.
  • One line from the video, however, stood out more than others, alluding to the tragedy of George R.R. Martin's original novel.

Although many people were wary of another show based on George R.R. Martin's writing after the fiasco of the Game of Thrones finale, House of the Dragon exceeded all expectations in both production quality and writing. However, the first season was nothing more than a backstory for the events that will take place in season 2.

With so much at stake for both teams competing for the Iron Throne, viewers can be sure that the show will be as gripping, intriguing, and tragic as they have ever seen. However, those unfamiliar with the original story may not be prepared for how it ends.

Who Will Win in House of the Dragon?

One question that many people have as they prepare for the war that will begin in House of the Dragon season 2 is which team will win.

Though those who don't want to spoil anything will have to wait and see how the war between two branches of the Targaryen family plays out, those who have already read George R.R. Martin's original novel are prepared to see even more traumatic events on screen than they did in the first season.

Though the show's promotion has so far focused heavily on the division, with the House of Dragon team even encouraging viewers to choose which side they will root for, the latest trailer has hinted at a glimpse into the reality of an impending war.

“War is coming. And neither of us may win,” we hear in Rhaenyra’s voice in the trailer, and that is the exact prophecy that the show gives us into the future.

Though both sides will have their share of victories and failures, the war within a family will lead to nothing but the fall of House Targaryen. As we have seen in Game of Thrones, without dragons and a power-hungry brother, Daenerys has had to fight every day to survive, and that is the legacy her predecessors will leave behind.

While you may find yourself rooting for Team Black or Team Green more than the other, given what we know about the Targaryens in the future, the war will not bring glory to either Aegon II or Rhaenyra, leaving only pain, despair, and a trail of death.

However, as we have already seen in the first season of House of the Dragon, the events described in George R.R. Martin's original novel can easily change to support the TV series' narrative. So if you still have some hope for the characters, be sure to tune in to HBO on June 16 for the premiere of House of the Dragon season 2.
