House of the Dragon Fans Brace for the Epic Wedding Mess in Season 2
It would make a fine addition to the whole collection.
If there's one rule that any fan who's ever been exposed to Game of Thrones knows, it's that weddings in this universe never go right. At this point, any viewer familiar with at least some of the lore knows how many horrible things have happened at weddings, and knows to tense up the second a wedding is even mentioned.
However, House of the Dragon fans who have not yet had enough of the constant cruelty and bloodshed of the universe, as they are only now entering the season of real war, are willing to face the consequences and try another wedding.
The union of Rhaenyra's son, Jacaerys Velaryon, and Daemon's daughter, Baela Targaryen, may be the first somewhat peaceful celebration in a long time.
Will Baela and Jace Get Married in HoTD?
As established in season 1 of House of the Dragon, Daemon's two daughters were promised to Rhaenyra's sons in order to secure her position and continue the Targaryen line. However, being betrothed is not the same as being married, and some fans believe that Jace and Baela will tie the knot next season.
For some obvious reason, the ceremony would have to be very small, since this is no time for love in the midst of war. Still, the matching capes of the young couple from the trailer, their position near Rhaenyra behind the table, and the number of pictures of actors Harry Collett and Bethany Antonia give some clues to keep fans guessing.
In addition, the show's changes from George R.R. Martin's original book set up the story so that it would actually be easier for the couple to get married than it was in the novel. While the original Baela was only 13, her show counterpart is a bit older and could have been a proper bride by Targaryen standards.
“I used to think this was unlikely but now that I think about it in the book Baela did want to marry Jace immediately when the war broke but he wanted the fighting to be over before they got married, I imagine the fact that Baela was 13 at the time was also a factor that influenced that decision,” Redditor Significant_Ask_43 said.
Luckily for viewers, whether Baela and Jace get married or not, the show will clearly put an emphasis on their relationship, judging by all the promo materials that have already been released to the public.
To see what awaits the young couple and the rest of Team Black in season 2, be sure to tune in to HBO on June 16 to catch the premiere. Until then, stay tuned for more news and behind-the-scenes updates.
