If you think your heart only had space for three dragons, think again.

In the upcoming fifth episode of 'House of the Dragons', a new fire-breather will be officially introduced to the viewers: Meleys. We have already got a glimpse of the new dragon in the promo material, with an episode 5 clip also giving us a look at it.

A she-dragon, Meleys is ridden by Rhaenys Targaryen in the George R.R. Martin books. One could initially mistake Meleys for Caraxes due to the two dragons sharing a similar color. However, Meleys does not have a signature long snake-like neck, looking relatively a lot like a default dragon would.

Her scarlet scales have given her the nickname the Red Queen, with her crest, horns and claws being as bright as copper. Around 75 AC, Meleys was considered to be one of the fastest dragons in Westeros, easily outrunning — or outflying, if we may — Caraxes and Vhagar. Meleys' legendary speed is matched by her "tank-like" build, making the newest 'House of the Dragon ' fire-breather a force to be reckoned with.

In the episode 5 clip, Meleys is seen flying through the sky alongside Seasmoke. And her design seems to have already conquered fans' hearts.

"I'm sold, Meleys looks FANTASTIC. Very unique armour-like design, she's covered from head to toe in crests, spikes and bony ridges. I love how sharp and staggered her chest scales are, they look even bigger and sharper than Drogon's," Reddit user JR_Historian said.

Even though some fans hoped Meleys would look differently, they seem to be fine with the design chosen by the showrunners.

"She is gorgeous. I have to give it to them, they did a good job with her. Even though I wish she was the same breed as drogon, she is beautiful the way she is. Deserving to the title "the red queen." - /Red_Queen_Meleys

According to the already seen footage, Meleys is going to be about as big as Caraxes, slightly larger than Seasmoke, thus being canonically slightly larger than Drogon – as one can see judging by how small Rhaenys looks riding on Meleys' back.

It's also quite possible that Meleys is not going to be the only new dragon introduced in episode 5, with fans hoping that Vhagar is flying right behind the Red Queen and Seasmoke.

'House of the Dragon' is currently streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes arriving every Sunday.
