Hot Take: Doctor Who Most Hated Episode Is Actually Not That Bad
Maybe time was merciful to this notorious chapter in the Tenth Doctor's life.
When it comes to universally hated episodes, the Docto Who fandom is surprisingly united, as one particular episode for some reason triggers the majority of fans.
We're talking about Love & Monsters — the tenth episode of Doctor Who 's second series starring David Tennant as the tenth reincarnation of the Time Lord. The episode revolves around Victor Kennedy, an alien who wants to absorb Doctor's physical body and knowledge.
One of the most interesting — as well as divisive — things about the episode was how it was told from a different character's perspective instead of being focused solely on Doctor and his companion's point of view.

Many fans, however, simply can't bring themselves to watch the episode and would always skip it when re-watching the series. People have criticized Love & Monsters for offensive humor and general "parody vibe" it had, but was the episode really that bad? According to some fresh takes on Reddit, there are plenty of fans who actually don't really get the hate.
"I found it to be a nice tongue and cheek parody of the fandom as well as the original series without being resentful or hateful," Redditor PK_Fia said.
According to other fans who are perfectly fine with Love & Monsters, part of its questionable execution is "self-explanatory", and one simply needs to accept the fact that the episode was some sort of an experiment. For some people, Love & Monsters are even in their top 5 episodes of Doctor Who.
But even those who still hate the episode admit that it brought some iconic stuff into the Doctor Who universe.
"I hate that Love and Monsters sequence for a long time when I was taking myself too seriously as a young teen but Billie Piper running in screaming with a blue bucket of smoking liquid is an all-time great Doctor Who shot," Twitter user tomjonty said.
Love & Monsters was first broadcast on June 17, 2006 — only for fans to finally agree they may have been too harsh about the episode more than a decade later.
