Hi, Robin: What Has Cobie Smulders Been Up to After HIMYM?
Robin Sparkles really made it to the big screens!
Airing from 2005 to 2014 on CBS, How I Met Your Mother won the hearts of millions of people all around the world by telling the story of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), an awkward man in his search for love, and his funny friends: Barney, Marshall, Lily and Robin.
The latter one, Ted’s initial love interest, was portrayed by charming Cobie Smulders, whose name, actually, isn’t at the hearing now. However, after starring in our favorite sitcom, the actress has made a number of significant movie and TV appearances.
If you’re a big fan of HIMYM and at the same not into the MCU, you may have totally missed that Smulders made a great far cry from the role of the awkward journalist, starring in 2012’s superhero hit, The Avengers, as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill.
She reprised this role in several Marvel movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), The Avengers’ sequels (2015, 2018 and 2019) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), as well as in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) and Secret Invasion ( 2023) shows.
Speaking of other shows with the actress, it may come as a surprise, but Smulders reunited with her HIMYM co-star, Neil Patrick Harris, in his dramedy series A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019). You can enjoy them playing together one more time!
Besides, Smulders starred in ABC’s Stumptown crime show (2019 - 2020) and Amazon’s coming-of-age drama High School (2022) that both received glowing praise from critics who claimed the actress’ stellar performance makes it brilliant and binge-worthy.
As for the notable movies with the actress, you can give the action-packed thriller Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) or the fully improvised drama Songbird (2018) a try.
Last, but, of course, not least, HIMYM die-hard fans know that Smulders made a small appearance as Robin for the finale of the iconic sitcom’s spin-off, Hilary Duff’s How I Met Your Father. If she was your favorite part of the show, you know what to do.
Therefore, it turns out that Robin wasn’t the last big role for Cobie Smulders, so there is a lot for you to discover, while you can always revise the sitcom that made her a star.
How I Met Your Mother is now available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu .
