Is there a hope that Disney won't mess up Daredevil?

Daredevil: Born Again, while being one of the most anticipated TV shows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is also the one fans are most worried about. The biggest reason for it is the Netflix ’ Daredevil series. The MCU ’s take on the hero is inevitably going to be compared to the previous series.

However, one of the directors of Netflix’s Daredevil, Marc Jobst, has recently expressed his faith in Disney 's upcoming series.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jobst, who also directed the first two episodes of the newest hit adaptation of One Piece by Netflix, discussed the challenges of translating the darker tones of the Netflix series to a PG-13 setting, which is the standard for most MCU productions.

He believes that the essence of the characters can be retained even in a PG-13 environment, emphasizing the importance of the story and character development over mere ratings.

Jobst doubts that the talented cast would return to reprise their roles if they weren’t convinced in its quality.

"I can’t imagine that Charlie [Cox], Vince [D'Onofrio] and Jon [Bernthal] would sign up for something that they felt was anodyne," Jobst said.

Charlie Cox portrayed the best live-action version of Daredevil (sorry Ben Affleck ), while Vince D'Onofrio portrayed Kingpin, who was one of the best Marvel antagonists we had seen in years.

Jon Bernthal, who totally nailed it as the Punisher in Netflix’s TV shows, is also set to return to his role in Daredevil: Born Again. But before it was confirmed, Bernthal told The Hollywood Reporter that this character means a lot to him, and he'd only be up for it if they do Frank Castle justice.

Bernthal sounded really serious about it: “I’m enormously protective of that character. [...] it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”

Fans, while still being a bit skeptical, mostly believe that the actors' return might be indicating a promising reboot.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strike, we don’t even know when to expect the anticipated series. Fans are hoping for a 2024 release.
